Queen Elizabeth: Fashion and Style Icon

Novant’anni di cui sessantaquattro sul trono. Sua Maestà la Regina Elisabetta è senza dubbio anche un’icona di stile.
Elegante, senza mai essere alla moda, Queen Elisabeth, si è sempre contraddistinta per le sue inconfondibili e coloratissime mise.
Tonalità pastello, linee morbide e una cura dei dettagli a metà strada tra retrò e bon ton, sono gli emblemi di un‘eleganza a cui la regina è rimasta fedele nel tempo.
Nei suoi armadi “regnano” maniche a tre quarti e gonne con pieghe e piccoli spacchi (le piace muoversi agilmente), mentre sono banditi i bottoni in favore delle più comode zip.
Per quanto riguarda il make up, Elisabetta II non rinuncia al candido della sua pelle puntando tutto su rossetti forti come il fucsia.
Dicono che il suo colore preferito sia il rosa, ma nelle occasioni di famiglia predilige il giallo (per lei il colore della felicità).
Sebbene oggi, sotto la direzione di Angela Kelly, sia seguita da uno staff di dodici sarte, è lunga la lista di designer (da Norman Hartnell che confezionò per lei l’abito da sposa nel 1947, a Stewart Parvin colui che meglio di tutti ha capito i gusti della Regina e il suo amore per il rosa) che hanno contribuito a costruire quell’arcobaleno di cappottini, cappelli strutturati, borse e guanti in jersey che compongono quel look talmente personale e riconoscibile che caratterizzato il suo personaggio rendendolo un’ icone che va al di la dello spazio e del tempo.

In occasione dei 90 anni verrà realizzata una mostra con gli abiti più iconici della Regina, esposti Palace Holyroodhouse di Edimburgo e da successive istallazioni a Buckingham Palace e al Windsor Castle nel corso dell’anno

Ninety years, of which sixty-four on the throne. Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth is, beyond a doubt, an icon of style. Elegant, but never fashionable, Queen  Elizabeth, always stood out for her unique and colorful attires. Pastel shades, soft lines and a care for the details halfway between vintage and bon ton, these are the symbols of the elegance to which the Queen has been faithful through time.
In her closets 3/4 sleeves and folded skirts with small rips (she likes to be able to move nimbly) rule supreme, while buttons are banned in favor of the far more comfortable zippers.
For what concerns the make-up, Elizabeth the II doesn’t renounce to the pure white of her skin, playing with some strong shades of lipstick, like fuchsia. They say that her favorite color is pink, but for family occasions she prefers the yellow (her color of happiness).
Although today, under the guidance of Angela Kelly a team of twelve seamstresses takes care of her needs, there’s a long list of designers (from Norman Hartnell who made her bride dress in 1947, to Stewart Parvin who better than anyone understood the Queen’s tastes and her love for the pink) that contributed to build that rainbow of coats, hats, purses and jersey gloves that compose such a personal and unique look, characterizing  and  making her an icon that lives beyond space and time.
