The legend of Studio54

Luci stroboscopiche, colori scintillanti e la mitiche note di Nicky Siano e Richie Kaczor: era il 26 aprile del 1977 quando apriva i battenti il leggendario Studio54.
Non una semplice discoteca, ma “la Discoteca” che prendeva il nome da un vecchio teatro situato sulla cinquantaquattresima, un tempo usato come studio dalla CBS.
Divanetti argentati, elementi barocchi e un’infinità di specchi adornavano i circa 1800mq di pista dove ogni sera andava in scena la trasgressione.
Proprio la trasgressione, caratteristica principale della Gomorra newyorkese, trovava la sua massima espressione al terzo piano nella Rubber Room, la sala con le pareti di gomma…lascio immaginare a voi il perchè.
Per assurdo il luogo più misterioso e se vogliamo segreto del locale era il seminterrato, un mondo al contrario dove era facile incontrare personaggi del calibro di Andy Wharol e Salvador Dalì.
Allo Studio54 sono associate serate epiche, su tutte la notte del maggio del 1977 quando per il suo compleanno Bianca Jagger si presentò in groppa un cavallo bianco scortata da un aitante quanto svestito giovanotto…
Lo Studio54 era questo, sfarzi, lusso, sprechi, droghe e quella trasgressione che non si sa per quale oscuro motivo rendeva tutto affascinante.

Stroboscopic lights, bright colors and the mytical music by Nicky Siano and Richie Kaczor, it was April the 26th of 1977 when the legendary Studio54 first opened its doors. Not a  simple club, but The Club, which bears the name of an old theater on the 54th, long ago used by CBS as a studio. Silver couches, barroque details and a lot of mirrors used to decorate the 1800 square meters of dance floor where every night would go on stage the show of trasgression. It was precisely trasgression, the main feature of the new yorker “Gomorra”, which found expression in the Rubber room on the third floor, a room with rubber walls…I’ll let you figure out why. The most misterious place of the club was the basement, where it was quite easy to bump into people like Andy Warhol or Salvador Dalì. To the name Studio54 we associate epic evenings, among all the others, the night of may 1977 when, for her birthday, Bianca Jagger reached the club riding a white horse accompanied by a handsome and quite undressed young man…
Studio54 was all this, luxury, squandering, drugs and that trasgression which, for some obscure reason, made everything even more captivating.
